| French regulation working claims ARJEL president

There have been a lot of major changes happening to the world of online casino gaming both in the US and internationally. It looks like there is more news coming out of France, according to the President of regulator ARJEL at a Monaco conference. They are hoping to bring more offshore activity to their online casinos, as they’re already successfully creating a lot of offshore business. The European Court Of Justice, based in Luxembourg, ruled out on September 8th 2010 that the prohibition on private online gambling offers is not accepted in European Union jurisdiction. Full Article

There are all sorts of provinces lining up to be the next one to offer online casino licensing in Canada and everyone is wondering if their province will become cutting edge to catch up to those like British Columbia, which already has an online casino, or Ontario, Alberta and Saskatechewan that have started to seriously consider the idea! There is one province, however, that doesn’t seem like it’s intending to jump on the bandwagon with the rest of the Canadian provinces. Canada has been gearing up to introduce online gambling, and with British Columbia having already implemented an online casino, and other provinces in talks to follow suit, education has been increased to ensure that gambling is only beneficial and not harmful to Canadian members of society who may find themselves looking to participate at the online casinos or see others who do. Some who are opposed to online gambling in Canada and the US believe that it may lead to an increase in gambling problems. Ontario, one province already discussing the potential to implement online gambling has begun to educate its youth about online gambling and the dangers that way by the time licensing begins they’ll be well aware of some of the potential realities. While it didn’t look to hopeful a few months ago when it came to online gambling being made legal in the US, it looks as though things are starting to look up. Great news has arrived for Microgaming. 888 has just received a license from ARJEL, the French regulator, and 888 will now be joining the poker network with Microgaming with hopes of targeting the French market. There is a huge potential market in France for online gambling, especially poker rooms.
